Havilah Abrego, artist, marine biology student, and volunteer for CIMWI, working in the field with a Calfornia Sea Lion in Carpinteria, California.

Painting For A Cause

Artist and marine biology student, Havilah Abrego, embraces the valuable convergence between art and science as she depicts the local seascape in her newest piece, Water's Edge, to bring awareness to a local organization.

In this fundraising project, Havilah's goal is to amplify awareness and support for CIMWI (Channel Islands Marine and Wildlife Institute). She has been closely involved as a hotline response team member and rehabilitation volunteer since 2018, in addition to actively pursuing her degree in marine biology.

CIMWI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting conservation through marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, research and education to promote ocean and human health. CIMWI is an all volunteer organization giving marine mammals a second chance at life back in the wild! (CIMWI).

60% of profit made from the original 18"x24" acrylic painting, Water's Edge, will be donated to Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute. This amount will help feed CIMWI's patients for one day, during their peak season with 40 animals in rehabilitation, while also covering the cost of medication and initial diagnostic testing for 3 new patients.

* Original painting has been sold *

All profits made from 5"x7" prints will also be donated to CIMWI, and will feed one seal or sea lion for two days!
